Patron Status

The number of active items you can have in the ILLiad system depends on your current patron status:

  • Undergraduate students may have up to 3 active requests
  • Senior Thesis and Graduate students may have up to 10 active requests
  • Faculty and Staff have no limit on the number of active requests
  • Other library patrons may have up to 2 active requests (and must pay for each request according to the current Fee Schedule)

Active Requests

An active request is any request that has been placed and not yet completed or canceled. A request is completed based on the item type requested:

  • Books and other returnable items: Once the item is returned to the library and we mark it for shipment back to the lending library.
  • Articles and other non-returnable items: Once the item have been marked received by the ILL staff.

Cancelling Items

An item may be canceled for several reasons:

  • You can cancel any item that has not yet be processed in the system
  • We may cancel an order if we are able to find the item in our local or online holdings (and we will let you know where to find the item)
  • We will cancel the item if we cannot find a library willing or able to lend it
  • We will cancel an item if it costs more than the amount you have stipulated you would pay (we will always ask you before ordering when the lending library charges fees)
